The Painted Surface
Texture you can feel and stories you can dig into.
In the studio, I’m not really interested in "perfect." I’m interested in what’s real. My paintings are built on the idea that everything—our lives, our memories, and even our surroundings—is made of layers.
I start every piece by building up thick, heavy textures, and then the real work begins: the "wrecking." I use palette knives, scrapers, and sometimes raw force to excavate the surface, digging back through the paint to find the colors and shapes hiding underneath.
The result is a surface that’s visceral and alive. Whether it’s a high-energy explosion of color or a quiet, monochromatic study, these pieces aren't just meant to be looked at—they’re meant to be felt. They are a celebration of the grit, the pressure, and the beautiful mess of being human.
